About

Drexel University Dragons

In 1994 Drexel University officially recognized a group of students as the Drexel University Paintball Club. Since the club’s inception the Drexel Paintball Club has strove to teach Drexel students the sport of paintball, sportsmanship and what competitive paintball is all about. Drexel has developed and nurtured many players who are new to the sport and allowed them to get the experience and skills necessary to compete in higher levels of play. However, Drexel has been a reputable name in the National Collegiate Paintball Association for years. With plenty of podium finishes in both X-ball and 5-man competition, most notably as the National X-Ball Champions 2002, as well as a well established program in terms of sponsorships and funding, Drexel will continue to be a team that comes to mind when one thinks of College Paintball. Drexel was one of the founding teams of College Paintball, holding the first ever college teams only event, the North East Intercollegiate Paintball Conference (NEIC), in 1997, the first college team to play a NPPL World Cup event (1998), and the first college team to play Skyball (1999), as well as one of the teams invited to play the X-ball exhibition at World Cup 2002.

Since 2005, Drexel has been a powerhouse in both 5-man and X-Ball competition. Standing for the 2005-2006 season yielded amazing results, with a 9th place overall finish for 5 Man competition (one 1st Place, two 3rd place, and one 4th place in 4 events) and top 8 for X-Ball at College Nationals. So far, in the 2006-2007 season, Drexel has achieved one 1st place, one 2nd place, and two 3rd place for the first 2 5-man events. Plans for the rest of the 2006-2007 include to compete in all three of the NEIC X-Ball Conference events, NEIC 5-Man events, College X-Ball Nationals in the Spring, as well as hopes to compete in a NPPL or PSP event during the summer.
